Jamie Pikulin
Yoga Teacher
I am dedicated to building community grounded in yoga practice. In my own practice, I have learned that when I slow down, build awareness and connect to my own human experience, I cultivate a greater capacity to hold space for the experiences of others.
I received my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Certification from Room to Breathe Chicago's Psychology Sensitive Yoga Teacher Training Program in November 2021. I studied in a non-lineage based program trauma-informed, inclusive, program. I embrace yoga's roots and strive to: center diverse experiences, work toward decolonizing yoga and practice social justice.
I humbly acknowledge and offer gratitude for: the yoga teachings passed down across the years and miles, especially the Yoga Sutras of Putanjali; the numerous generations of teachers; and the generations of students. I acknowledge and thank my teachers at Room to Breathe including: Renee Zambo, Adam Grossi, Shanna Linn, Natalie McGreal, Karen O’Leary, Sierra Buffman, Whitney Pasch, and all of the therapists, yoga teachers and members of the yoga community. I also thank my teachers including: Rodney Yee, Adriene Mishler, Mary Delaney, Susana Barkataki, Tejal Patel, Jesal Parikh, Valarie Kaur, Jivana Heyman, Michelle Cassandra Johnson and Thich Nhat Hanh. I acknowledge and thank the countless yoga teachers, activists and people dedicated to social justice and dismantling oppression. Thank you to all of you for sharing your experiences.
