Therapy is a safe and confidential relationship in which you can explore your identity, life events, and relationships. You work together with your therapist to understand yourself and others better, make changes that you desire, and expand your wellbeing.
Our priority at Room To Breathe is for you to find a therapist that best meets your needs and goals. We offer complimentary 15 min consultation calls so that you can talk to a therapist about what you’re looking for and how you might work together. While all of our therapists are different and take different approaches, we all prioritize building relationships with clients and checking in with you along the way to ensure you are getting what you need from your mental health care.
All of our staff offer virtual therapy sessions, but some therapists do offer in-person care at our downtown Loop location. Please specify which you’d like to ensure you are matched with the therapist that meets your needs. Telehealth therapy sessions are conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform and therapists will provide instructions to guide you through the intake process.

All clients (and therapists) are welcome to engage in tele-health services indefinitely; no one is required (staff or clients) to consider in-person sessions if that is not their wish.
When discussing in-person sessions, we believe it is critical to center the most vulnerable persons among us; persons who are medically unable to receive vaccinations, persons with auto-immune disorders, and persons that are marginalized. It is critical that we actively acknowledge our privilege (able-bodied among other statuses) and uphold our responsibility to behave ethically and compassionately.
Our decisions are based on the following factors:
The health and safety of auto-immune compromised or other vulnerable humans that may identify as staff or clients.
Protection of confidentiality for all to disclose (or not) their vaccination or health status.
The extended networks of people and settings of both therapist(s) and client(s) that may include vulnerable persons or elevated risk.
City, state, national, and global levels of health crisis and response.
Please be aware:
Room to Breathe does not require its therapists to provide in person services. Each therapist has the autonomy to determine when or if they offer in-person sessions and the right to change their offering as needed.
As providers, therapists act in the best interest of the health of all their clients, not just those seen in person. (A sick therapist should be healing, not working. ) This may result in a change of services; please assume your therapist is maintaining confidentiality and protecting your health and the health of others.
A therapist (or client) declining in-person sessions or requiring masks in a session are not reliable indicators of vaccination status.
Clients have the right to change a session from in-person to tele-health as needed/wanted.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.
By law, healthcare providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services to be rendered.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services.
Make sure your healthcare provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical session or item. You can also ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a session.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.
