Rachel Kaffey, MA

(She/Her)

I believe that forming authentic and compassionate relationships is essential to personal healing and aim to generate a space where you feel validated and empowered in your mental health journey. I care deeply about co-creating a safe, nonjudgmental therapeutic space where we can examine how the systems and institutions that we operate in affect our mental and physical wellbeing.

The foundation of my therapeutic practice is person centered, strengths based, trauma informed, and queer affirming. I prioritize using an anti-oppressive, feminist, systems approach to therapy that recognizes and challenges barriers to mental healthcare and wellbeing particularly for individuals who hold marginalized identities. I also believe in developing one’s personal strength through enhancing awareness of the mind-body connection. I firmly believe that rest and restoration are radical acts of resistance in a world that prioritizes productivity.

I earned dual Master’s degrees from Adler University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Forensic Mental Health Leadership. Prior to graduate school I worked as a Behavioral Health Technician with children experiencing behavioral and emotional difficulties and as a Behavioral Aide at the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf. My experience is primarily with children and adolescents but I am also passionate about working with young adults navigating the stresses and challenges of existing in a capitalist society.

Cultural competency is of the utmost importance to me. As a White clinician I recognize the privilege I bring to the therapeutic space and do not shy away from challenging conversations about racial and cultural identity (in fact I highly encourage it!). Additionally, as a Queer therapist I strive to foster a community of healing and support for fellow LGBTQIA+ individuals particularly trans/GNC individuals of color. I love working with people in radical ways and would be privileged to build a therapeutic alliance with you!
